kundalini yoga

Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is a 5,000-year-old authentic system of yoga exercise and meditation that, in combination with other healthy lifestyle choices, can help promote mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Combining a dynamic blend of postures (asanas), movement, breath (pranayama), meditation, and sound current (mantra), Kundalini Yoga is taught through the use of safe, effective, and powerful sets called kriyas.

Accessible to all, the yoga is designed to provide you with a first-hand experience of your highest consciousness through the raising of Kundalini. “Kundal” literally means “the curl of the hair of the beloved,” implying the coiled up, untapped potential of the human being, which, according to yogic philosophy, is said to lie dormant at the base of the spine. By safely and methodically ‘uncoiling,” releasing, and directing this energy, the practice of Kundalini Yoga sets the stage to enable you to merge with, or “yoke” with, the Universal or Higher Self. This yoking or merging of individual consciousness with universal consciousness creates the divine union we know as yoga.

In practical terms, some of the possible benefits of practicing Kundalini Yoga include increased flexibility and strength in mind and body, promotion of a relaxed state of awareness, strengthening of the nervous system, balancing of the glandular system, and developing of sensitivity and intuition.
